JOHN LAWRENCE EARNS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FROM NEW ENGLAND PGA

Co-founder of Tournament Solutions honored for making ‘meaningful difference’

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (October 16, 2024) – John Lawrence, co-founder and managing director of Tournament Solutions, the premier golf tournament and gifts awards purveyor in the United States, has been named winner of the prestigious George S. Wemyss Award by the New England PGA (NEPGA).

Located in Manchester, Mass., Tournament Solutions is a division of Ahead, which acquired the company in 2020.

A graduate of Salem (Mass.) State University, Lawrence was one of 13 Section award winners for 2024 announced by the NEPGA. The George S. Wemyss Award is presented each year to an individual who is not a PGA member but is consistently a friend to the NEPGA and/or its members over the years and makes a significant contribution to the game of golf. These individuals consistently demonstrate a high moral character, and perform a distinctive service to the NEPGA to meet its goals or enhance its image. The award is named in honor of the former longtime executive director of the NEPGA who retired in 1990.

“Knowing the impact Mr. Wemyss had on the New England PGA and the game in general, it is a distinct honor to receive this award,” Lawrence said. “I am humbled, and I look forward to continuing to give back to the Section in a significant manner.”

The 2024 NEPGA award winners represent all six of the Section’s Chapters: Cape Cod, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The 2024 NEPGA Awards Banquet and Celebration is set for Saturday, October 19 at The Haven Country Club in Boylston, Massachusetts.

Lawrence serves on the Board of Trustees for the New England PGA Reach, is an advisor to the American Diabetes Association of New England and is a member of the Golf Club at Turner Hill in Ipswich, Massachusetts. He is also a member of the Danvers High School Athletic Hall of Fame for hockey. Lawrence resides in Middleton, Massachusetts with his wife Denise.
