JAKE KNAPP NAMED HONORARY CHAIRMAN OF 2024 CRMC CHAMPIONSHIP

Past Champion Now Finding Success on the PGA TOUR

BRAINERD, Minn. (Aug. 21, 2024) — Jake Knapp, 2022 Champion of the CRMC Championship presented by Gertens, has been named honorary chairman of the event, which will take place from August 25-September 1 at Cragun’s Resort Golf & Conference. Knapp, in his rookie season on the PGA TOUR, has recorded four Top 10 finishes, including a victory at the Mexico Open at Vidanta in just his fifth start. He is now exempt on the PGA TOUR through 2026.

“I am honored to be named the honorary chairman of the CRMC Championship and am grateful to Brainerd Lakes Area and Cragun’s Legacy Courses for this special opportunity,” Knapp said.  “The Dutch Course is a great test of golf on PGA TOUR Americas, and my success here played a pivotal role in shaping my career to date.”  He added, “Needless to say, I am thrilled to be able to play a small part in the third year of this event and look forward to working with CRMC, Gertens, and supporting the CRMC Foundation in the future.”

The CRMC Championship is part of PGA TOUR Americas schedule, which was introduced last year and is the merger of PGA TOUR Latinoamérica and PGA TOUR Canada into a singular tour.

The CRMC — named for title sponsor Cuyuna Regional Medical Center — goes well beyond golf as there is a robust week-long schedule for the public, adults and children alike, beginning Sunday, Aug. 25 with the “Cruising for Charity on Gull Lake” event. Check the championship website for a full schedule of events, including celebrity appearances, family-friendly activities, military appreciation day, and top-caliber professional golf.

As the final full-field stop before PGA TOUR America’s Fortinet Cup Championship in Toronto, the CRMC Championship — to be played on the Blue and White nines of the resort’s Dutch 27, renovated last year by PGA TOUR great and Minnesota native Tom Lehman — is a crucial steppingstone for up-and-coming professionals. The stakes are high as the top 10 players on the season-long points list after the Fortinet Cup Championship will earn Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2024-25, as well as a share of a $100,000 bonus pool.
