Cragun’s Resort Partners with National Loon Center for Summer Tours
BRAINERD, Minn. (April 30, 2024) — Cragun’s Resort, Golf & Conference has partnered with the National Loon Center in Cross Lake, Minn. to bring Resort guests an unparalleled summer experience to explore the beauty and significance of loons.
The Loon Sighting Tours on Gull Lake, on which the resort is located, are complimentary for guests of Cragun’s Resort. The tours will take place on Friday mornings starting May 31, and on Tuesdays and Fridays from June 25 to Aug. 30. Participants can choose 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. time slots, with each tour lasting approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
On board the “Floating Classroom” tour participants will delve into the fascinating world of loons, learning about their behavior, habits, and conservation efforts. Knowledgeable guides will share intriguing facts and answer questions, providing a comprehensive understanding of these incredible birds and their importance to freshwater ecosystems.
In addition to loon-focused activities, participants will have the opportunity to engage in water quality and transparency testing, contributing to ongoing loon research efforts. By the end of the tour, guests will leave with a newfound appreciation for loons, freshwater ecosystems, and the vital work of the National Loon Center.
Loons hold a special place in the hearts of Minnesotans, and Gull Lake boasts a thriving population of these birds. Each year, “local loons” return to Steamboat Bay, captivating visitors with their presence.
Donations to support the important work of the Loon Center are always welcomed. Signups for the tours will be available in addition to other resort recreation activities, ensuring easy access for all interested guests.
